High Winds And Blowing Snow Close Hwy. 285

FAIRPLAY, Colo. (AP) — The Colorado State Patrol has closed U.S. Highway 285 between Fairplay and Kenosha Pass because of reports of winds over 60 miles per hour and blowing snow.

The patrol said in a tweet that visibility has been reduced to zero.

National Weather Service spokesman Chad Gimmestad said Friday gusts of nearly 90 miles per hour have been reported in Summit County. Forecasters say the high winds could continue through Saturday morning because of a storm moving across the northern Rocky Mountains.
