High-Powered Rifle Used In Animal Deaths In Lincoln County

HUGO, Colo. (CBS4) - Wildlife officials are investigating why someone is killing animals with a high-powered rifle.

Nine antelope and two cattle have been killed north of town over the past 17 months. Another pregnant cow was wounded and may not survive. The cattle were all shot recently.

Investigators said the killer is using a high-powered rifle but have no other leads.

Hugo is located on Highway 287 south of Interstate 70 in Lincoln County.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,000 reward for information.
