Hickenlooper To Name New Colorado Poet Laureate

DENVER (AP) — Gov. John Hickenlooper is naming a new poet laureate for Colorado.

The governor is expected to announce his appointment for the position Tuesday morning outside the state Capitol.

The state's poet laureate advocates for poetry, literacy, and literature across the state at schools, libraries, and festivals. The appointment lasts four years.

The current poet laureate is David Mason of Colorado Springs, the co-director of creative writing at Colorado College.
