Coffman is one of the few members of Congress who actually served in the military. He was in the Army, Army Reserve, Marine Corps and Marine Reserves, serving in both the Gulf and Iraq wars. His father is interred at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Coffman told the crowd those who served are like family and Memorial Day is time to honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice.
