Heavy, Wet Snow Causes Damage

DENVER (CBS4)- Homeowners cleaned up on Sunday after heavy, wet snow hit the Front Range and the Denver metro area.

"I was shoveling just over there and I heard this big crack noise and took off running that way and the next thing you know this big branch here was lying across the driveway," said homeowner Abby Smith.

In Lakewood, a much larger tree came crashing down on a garage and left the house uninhabitable. That tree had stood for 70 years.

"It's been healthy. We just had arborists come and take a look at it but I just think the heavy, wet storm brought it down," said homeowner Todd Alvey.

For other homeowners, it was a near miss but they still had a big mess to clean up.

"We're relieved the branches didn't hit the house, that would have caused a lot of damage. It's a little bit of a challenge getting to the front door with all of these branches blocking the front walkway," said homeowner Cori Dunnick.
