Hearing Set For Air Force Cadet On Sex Misconduct Charge

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) — The Air Force Academy will conduct a hearing to determine whether a cadet should face a military trial on modified charges of sexual misconduct.

The hearing is scheduled Monday for junior Brock W. Mangum.

Mangum was charged last year with sexual assault and abusive sexual contact against a female cadet. After a hearing in November, a military judge recommended modifying the charges, which requires a new hearing.

The Air Force says the modified charges include allegations of sexual assault and fondling.

The female cadet testified last year that she had fallen asleep while watching TV with Mangum and awoke to find him assaulting her.

There was no immediate reply to a request for comment from Mangum's lawyer made through academy spokesman Meade Warthen.
