HealthONE Teams With 'Wish For Wheels' To Build Bikes For Kids

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) – Some children, including some who've never had a bicycle, got their own wheels on Wednesday.

HealthONE Hospitals teamed up with the Wish For Wheels Project to build the bikes and they'll be delivered Wednesday.

HealthONE employees turned the volunteer project into a team building exercise, wearing blinders and relying on coworkers as part of a coaching exercise. They built 115 bikes for each child in the first grade at Denver's Holly Ridge Elementary School.

"Many of those children have never had a bike bicycle, so it's a great opportunity for our leaders to work together, have some fun team building and benefit the community," Sylvia Young with HealthONE Hospitals said. "We are committed to the care and improvement of human life, and it's not just when people are in hospital beds, but outside the walls of the hospital too."

More than 400 HealthONE employees joined in the project.
