Guilty Plea From Man Who Vandalized Officer Memorial
DENVER (CBS4)- The man accused of vandalizing the Fallen Officer Memorial in the plaza at the Denver Police Headquarters has pleaded guilty.
Robert Guerrero pleaded guilty on Thursday to criminal mischief and was immediately sentenced to two years probation and ordered to pay $2,500 in restitution.
In court, Guerrero apologized for crossing the line from free speech to vandalism.
Guerrero, 25, poured and sprayed paint over the memorial to fallen police officers during a protest on Feb. 14. Police say Guerrero was joined by another man, Matthew Goldberg, 24.
Goldberg pleaded not guilty earlier this year but failed to appear for his most recent court hearing in July. A warrant for his arrest has been issued and anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact local law enforcement.
