Ground Broken On New DPS Charter School

DENVER (CBS4) - Denver Public Schools is celebrating the groundbreaking of a new facility for a charter school.

The new Roots Elementary Charter School will be located at Holly Square in northeast Park Hill.

Denver mayor Michael Hancock was at Thursday's groundbreaking, where he praised Roots Elementary for its unique teaching style that focuses on individualized learning.

"What makes Roots unique of course is the cutting edge of personalized training that it brings about. They're empowering students to work at their own pace and do things based on their own learning styles," Hancock said.

Once complete, the school will hold 500 students from various economic backgrounds.
