Greeley Man Suspected Of Sexual Assault On 11-Year-Old Girl

GREELEY, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Greeley have arrested a sexual assault suspect accused of assaulting an 11-year-old girl.

On May 27, officers responded to a call of sexual assault on a child in the 1200 block of 29th Street Road. An 11-year-old girl told her mother that a man, later identified as Abdi Hassan, approached her while she was rollerblading and sexually assaulted her.

The girl knew Hassan and was able to give details to her mother and then police. Detectives identified him and tried to locate him at his home. He was not there but police waited and watched him return home where he started to fight with family members about the alleged assault.

Officers rescued Hassan from his family but then he became combative with police. He continued to be combative and had to be sedated and transported to the hospital.

He is facing charges of sexual assault on a child, assault on a peace officer and resisting arrest.
