Officials Name Husband & Wife In House Fire & Explosion

GRAND COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - One person was killed in an early morning home explosion in Grand County Sunday. Officials responded to the home on Mad Moose Lane near Grand Lake.

Officials confirmed to CBS4 as 67-year-old Susan McLean. A second victim was hospitalized at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood. The sheriff's office tells CBS4 he is the woman's husband, named Mark McLean, 63.

"The one that survived was actually outside of the house. He said when he woke up he was in the snow," said Lt. Dan Mayer, a spokesman for the Grand County Sheriff's Office.

Officials say the home is a total loss.

"I think any tragedy is hard. It's even worse when it's people that you know that participate in the community so much, contribute so much to make the fabric of the communities. It is doubly hard to see something like this to happen to good people," said Jim White, the Grand Lake Town Manager and friend of the McLean's.

Several agencies including the Grand County Sheriff's Office and the Grand County Fire Protection District.

Details about how the fire started have not been released or confirmed.
