Granby Votes To Annex Land To Prevent Opening Of Retail Pot Shop

GRANBY, Colo. (CBS4)- The town council in Granby voted to annex a small piece of county land to block a retail marijuana entrepreneur from opening a pot shop in the mountain town.

The property is a strip mall in which the landlord has agreed to allow a retail marijuana shop. It had been part of unincorporated Grand County.

"The town people have indicated that they do not want any marijuana retail establishments or grow establishments or processing establishments within the town of Granby," Town Manager Wally Baird said.

With the approval of the annexation, the debate is expected to be in front of a judge before the end of the year. Both sides say they're digging in for a long fight.
