Governor Thanks Law Enforcement For Creating Safe Environment
DENVER (CBS4) - Gov. John Hickenlooper joined other state leaders on Tuesday in thanking all of Colorado's police officers, deputies and troopers as part of Law Enforcement Day at the capitol.
As part of his thanks, Hickenlooper commended officers for their work on Super Bowl Sunday. There were only 12 arrests for disorderly conduct in Colorado on the day the Denver Broncos defeated the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.
Hickenlooper says police worked hard to create a safe environment for those celebrating the Broncos win both on Feb. 7 and then at the parade in Denver two days later.
"On Tuesday, when we had the celebration, we had 1 million people downtown and we had one arrest," Hickenlooper said.
Colorado Attorney General Cynthia Coffman and 18th Judicial District District Attorney George Brauchler also thanked law enforcement during Tuesday's event.
