Gov. Hickenlooper Visits New Facility For Homeless

DENVER (AP) - Gov. John Hickenlooper will be in southern Colorado to mark the first year of a facility in Las Animas that provides housing for the homeless.

The Democratic governor will be at the Fort Lyon Supportive Residential Community campus on Tuesday morning. It was repurposed from a prison last year and the facility now provides mental and health care services, as well as vocational training.

The governor's office says the facility has served more than 200 people.

Meanwhile, Hickenlooper's Republican challenger in November's election, Bob Beauprez, will be in Denver on Tuesday visiting a startup that provides training in web development and information technology to high school graduates.
