Gov. Hickenlooper Picks Boss For Colorado Natural Resources Agency
DENVER (AP) - The former deputy director of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources has been named director.
Gov. John Hickenlooper said Monday that Bob Randall steps into the top job immediately.
Randall has been interim director since February 2016, when Mike King resigned to become planning director for Denver Water, the state's largest municipal utility.
Randall was deputy director from 2010 until becoming interim director. He added the role of chief operations officer in 2014.
He advised King on policy and legislation and worked on several initiatives, including new rules and fines for the oil and gas industry.
Hickenlooper praised Randall's experience and his ability to collaborate with a range of interests at the department.
The department's responsibilities include oil, gas and mining, forests and water, parks and wildlife and state lands.
