GOP Withdraws Recount Request In 2 Adams County Races

BRIGHTON, Colo. (AP/CBS4) - The Republican Party in Adams County has withdrawn a request for recounts in two races that went narrowly for Democrats last month.

The recount request came in a commissioner race and state House contest.

The Denver Post reported that county GOP Chairman Gary Mikes said that he suspected invalid ballots were turned in by voters and wanted to make sure voter signatures belong to eligible voters.

Before noon on Tuesday Mikes then sent an email to Adams County Clerk and Recorder Karen Long withdrawing his party's request for a recount

The Adams County clerk says the recounts would have cost about $35,000.
