Google's 'FrightGeist' Displays Most Popular Halloween Costumes By City

DENVER (CBS4) - Worried you'll have the same costume as everyone else in town? Google has organized the billions of searches it sees daily to compile the most popular Halloween costumes. The data is categorized locally by state and even by city.

Trending nationally is Harley Quinn, a comic book figure that comes to life in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie. The second top national Halloween costume is the broad genre of Star Wars. The new movie is set to release in December, and there is no shortage of excitement.

In Colorado, the cities of Colorado Springs and Denver are following suit with Star Wars named the top costume. Apparently the town of Grand Junction is dressing up like Hippies, I want to say because it's easy.

Alaska and Hawaii are both made up largely of pirates this year, and Nebraska will be full of Superheroes.

Much of Montana is dressing up as Batgirl or Batman, and a Gray Wolf is the most popular costume in Salisbury, Maryland as well as Steubenville, Ohio.

So, what are you being? Browse more states and cities on Frightgeist.
