By Suzanne McCarroll

NORTHGLENN, Colo. (CBS4)- A Good Samaritan in Northglenn handed over $1,600 to police after finding an envelope of cash outside Best Buy on 104th Avenue. Meanwhile, a young couple was frantically looking for the rent money they had lost.

It was Dec. 28 when Dana Martinez and Greg Alarid were on their way to pay their January rent.

Somewhere during their day of errands they lost the 16 $100 bills.

"It was awful. Who starts the New Year out broke?" said a tearful Martinez.

The Good Samaritan says he never thought about keeping the cash.

"That's more money than I have, I couldn't imagine losing it," said William Ritchie.

Postings on Facebook about the money led Martinez to call police in Northglenn. The cash was happily returned to some very thankful owners on Wednesday.
