Golden Rejects Retail Marijuana Sales

GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) — The city of Golden has decided to ban recreational marijuana retail.

The Denver Post reports that Golden's city council voted unanimously Thursday night to prohibit recreational marijuana sales. The ban includes testing facilities.

The newspaper reports that officials will allow medical marijuana retail, but only in manufacturing zones.

Mayor Marjorie Sloan said the votes were aimed at protecting the Jefferson County town's image as a healthy community.
