Goat, Birds Beheaded At 'Horrific' Scene In Wheat Ridge
WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) - Cyclists discovered three beheaded animals -- a goat and two birds -- in a Wheat Ridge park on Sunday, a scene police called horrific and sick.
"They found a goat and two birds lying in the field," John Romero, a spokesman for Wheat Ridge police, said. "They were beheaded."
The heads have not been found. White feathers lined the area where animal control officers removed the goat and birds.
"We can't understand why people do this. It's sick, it's horrific," Romero said.
On Sunday at approximately 6:35 p.m., a passerby noticed a tarp in a field near the bike path at Anderson Park, which is located at 4355 Field St.
"I'd like to think it was just some kids trying to get attention, but that's kind of disturbing as well," resident Shaina Aguillar said.
The park is a popular spot for joggers, bikers and dog walkers. Investigators said the killer or killers wanted people to see their work. Romero said police so far have no leads.
"When you see somebody do something of this nature, you don't know what they're capable of. That's why we want to find the person or persons who did this," he said.
Park regulars like Dan Lazzari agree.
"It's disturbing," he said. "I hope there's nobody in the neighborhood doing that. It's eerie."
