GiveLIVE Benefit Concert Helps Bonfils Blood Center

DENVER (CBS4)- The GiveLIVE benefit concert helps raise money for Bonfils Blood Center while offering an entertaining evening for music lovers.

The concert returns to the Paramount Theatre on May 7 featuring Matt Nathanson in a duo acoustic performance. Tickets are on sale and start at $30. Last year's event raised a record of nearly $166,000.

"So on Saturday, May 7, we're going to take over Paramount Theatre and Matt Nathanson is going to perform and just have a fun night," said Bonfils Blood Center spokeswoman Liz Lambert.

Blood recipient Joanie Kindblade knows the importance of blood donations.

"In 2010 I received multiple units of blood during a medical emergency. And it's really easy for me to sit here today and say 'I'm alive because of that donated blood,'" said Kindblade.

"Bonfils collects blood all across Colorado and so it takes about $1 million a week just to make sure that we're collecting a safe and ready blood supply, processing all that blood, so that it's ready to go for patients in need to hospitals all over Colorado," said Lambert.

Bonfils is celebrating its foundation on Feb. 27, 1943. Supporters are asked to give $10 by texting the word BDAY to 50155.
