Streets Reopen After Gas Line Break In Broomfield

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (CBS4) –  Residents of a Broomfield condominium complex were asked to shelter in place after a gas line break Thursday morning. Streets were closed around Meridian Elementary School and the Goddard School of Broomfield.

A CodeRED alert went out to residents of Fairwinds Townhomes, which is south of the intersection, asking them to shelter in place out of precaution. At about 12:45 p.m., crews said the gas had been shut off. Streets reopened at about 1:30 p.m.

The Broomfield Police Department said West 144th Avenue was closed from Lowell Boulevard to Tejon Street, and Zuni Street was closed between West 149th Avenue and McKay Landing Parkway.

Xcel Energy crews continued to work on the gas line break into Thursday evening.
