Searchers Look Again For Missing 11-Year-Old Gannon Stauch
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP/CBS4) — Authorities searched again Sunday for an 11-year-old Colorado boy who has now been missing for a week. Members of the FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children were among over 50 people who searched for Gannon Stauch in his Colorado Springs neighborhood on Sunday, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office said.
In the afternoon, the search's command post was moved to near the county jail because of unspecified information gathered during its investigation, the sheriff's office said.
Authorities also did an extensive search Saturday in the boy's neighborhood.
Authorities called him a runaway when it first went public asking for help finding him on Jan. 27. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office announced late Thursday that Gannon was now considered a missing and endangered child because of the time he has been gone, his age and because he needs medication.
The boy's stepmother, Letecia "Tecia" Stauch, told law enforcement he was on his way to a friend's house when he went missing.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office had received dozens of tips about Gannon. The office is also accepting applications from people who would like to take part in the search.
