Funeral Held For Major Killed In Afghanistan Helicopter Crash

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) - An Air Force major killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan is being laid to rest at the Air Force Academy.

A funeral for 45-year-old Major Phyllis Pelky of Rio Rancho, New Mexico will be held Monday morning in the school's chapel followed by a burial at the academy's cemetery.

Pelky was one of five people killed in the crash of a British helicopter in Kabul on Oct. 11 as it landed at a NATO post in Kabul.

At the time, she was working as the deputy manpower chief of the American Train, Advise and Assist Command there.

She previously worked at the Air Force Academy as an aide to the school's commander and a foreign language instructor.
