Full Containment Of Fire Near Parachute Expected By Day's End

PARACHUTE, Colo. (AP) — Firefighters hope to fully contain a wildfire burning along the border of Mesa and Garfield counties by the end of Thursday.

The Spring Creek 2 Fire southeast of Parachute initially forced the evacuation of about two dozen homes and has destroyed some outbuildings, trailers and vehicles.

It has burned about 640 acres since being started by lightning on Aug. 12.
