Fugitive Charged In Rape Of Ohio Child Caught In Colorado

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — A man wanted for almost 15 years on suspicion that he raped a child in Ohio has been caught and arrested in Colorado.

U.S. Marshals say 40-year-old David Lee Skelly, also known as Herman Maurice Singleton, attempted to run Friday before he was captured outside the Residence Inn where he worked in Westminster, Colorado.

Skelly was wanted by Toledo police on eight counts of rape and sexual assault. He was originally indicted by a grand jury in Lucas County in 2001.

Tips to law enforcement over the years had placed Skelly at various locations all over the U.S. and Mexico. He was also presumed dead at one point.

Skelly was in jail in Adams County, Colorado, on Saturday. He is expected to appear in court there Monday
