Friends Remember 14-Year-Old Shot To Death In Park

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Friends are remembering a 14-year-old youth who was shot to death at a Colorado Springs park.

Several people stopped by the Memorial Park scene where Desmond Smith died. They left flowers, stuffed animals and balloons with sports themes.

The shooting happened around 2 a.m. Saturday, well after the park's 11 p.m. closing time and the city's midnight curfew for teens on weekends.

Friend Sarah Hunt says it wasn't unusual for Smith to be out late with friends.

Police have yet to reveal a motive in the shooting. Three men, ages 35, 31 and 18, have been arrested in connection with Smith's death.

The El Paso County district attorney's office did not return a phone call on Monday seeking a court date for the three men.
