DENVER (CBS4) - In celebration on Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, the National Park Service has waived entrance fees for nearly all parks across the country.

The National Parks Service turns 100 years old in 2016, and has therefore designated 16 days of the year as fee free days.

In Colorado, several national parks are free today:

  • Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park
  • Colorado National Monument
  • Dinosaur National Monument
  • Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument
  • Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve
  • Mesa Verde National Park
