Fraser Woman Killed In Crash On Rabbit Ears Pass

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) – A woman was killed on Friday after the SUV she was driving collided with a tanker truck on Rabbit Ears Pass.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, troopers were responding to a report about a drunk driver when the crash occurred.

The victim has been identified as Debra Emal, 61, of Fraser. The State Patrol believes she was intoxicated at the time of the crash:

"Drug or alcohol impairment by the driver of the Ford is being investigated as a contributing factor in this crash," the State Patrol said in a statement.

According to Steamboat Today, a trooper used a fire extinguisher but was unable to get close to the burning vehicle.

The tanker caught fire during the crash. The driver, identified as Mark Bills, of Parker, was not injured.
