Foster Families Recognized During National Foster Care Month

DENVER (CBS4)- Four Colorado families were recognized for their love, caring and dedication to foster children on Saturday at the Foster Parent Recognition Luncheon at the Governor's Mansion.

The four families were the focus of the National Foster Care Month celebration on Saturday as they shared their stories during the luncheon which was Emceed by CBS4 Anchor Kathy Walsh.

"This is one of my favorite days of the year," said Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Human Services Reggie Bicha in a statement. "Today, we honor Colorado's 'Everyday Heroes' who open their hearts and homes to our most vulnerable children. Nearly 2,000 foster families have graciously become certified to care for Colorado's children. It is an honor and a privilege to recognize some of our very best."

The families honored were Jennifer and Alex Rodriguez from Roggen, Kim and Jesse Moses from Calhan, Julie Ellis and Malibu James from Aurora and Kurt and Jennifer Walker from Windsor.

The foster children were also in attendance at the luncheon where they were treated to lunch, face painting and games. Rocky the Denver Nuggets mascot was also there.
