Tancredo On 'Peace' Rally: They Can't Handle The Word 'Conservative'

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) - Several hundred people gathered in Fort Collins on Saturday for a peace and solidarity rally.
The rally was created to give residents upset with Donald Trump's election to president a platform to share their concerns.
"This was about people being together, and making it safe and comfortable," one rally attendee said.
The event was held at the Larimer County Justice Center. Event organizers asked those who attended to be peaceful in their protest, unlike what many rallies have transformed into across the nation.
"It makes people angry at each other, it just doesn't work out very well. This just helps people feel connected," another protester said.
However, some said the rally was not necessary. Former Republican Colorado U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo said there is already peace in the nation.
"We are raising a nation of wimps. They can't handle the word 'conservative'," Tancredo said.
Some counter-protesters held signs reading "suck it up" feet away from the rally.
Tancredo said those opposed aren't the only ones frustrated.
"So am I. So are a lot of other people, with the way a lot of folks on the other side are handling this election," Tancredo said.
