Fort Carson To Welcome Home About 125 Soldiers

FORT CARSON, Colo. (AP) — About 125 soldiers who have been in Afghanistan since March will be welcomed home during a ceremony at Fort Carson on Friday.

The soldiers with the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division were deployed to southern Afghanistan to train and help Afghan National Security Forces. The soldiers also helped set the security conditions for Afghanistan's presidential and runoff elections.

They were initially going to be deployed for nine months, but they are returning early as part of the phased reduction of troops in Afghanistan.

The homecoming ceremony will be held at the Special Events Center on post at 10:30 p.m. Friday.
