Former Teacher's Aid Sentenced To 2 Years Probation After Found With Syringe In Arm
DENVER (CBS4) - A Denver teacher's aide who pleaded guilty to drug possession after she was found passed out in a grade school bathroom with a syringe sticking in her arm was sentenced on Friday.
Cassandra Rein was sentenced to two years of probation in a drug court program which includes 50 hours of community service.
Rein pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a controlled substance last month.
Rein starts the program next week.
Court documents state four first-graders discovered Rein on the floor of the bathroom at the Denver Center for International Studies at Ford Elementary School in May.
Police say they also searched Rein's purse and found various pill bottles, more syringes and metal caps containing a burnt powder substance residue.
Rein initially told police she had a diabetic roommate and didn't know how the syringe got in her arm.
