Former Jewelry Store Employee Faces Charge In Theft Of Diamonds

BRIGHTON, Colo. (AP) — Prosecutors have filed charges alleging a 67-year-old woman stole at least $100,000 worth of diamonds at the Denver Merchandise Mart.

The District Attorney's Office for Adams and Broomfield counties said Thursday Huda Wadie Muhaisen is accused of stealing the diamonds on March 11.

She didn't immediately return a phone message.

Muhaisen faces one count of felony theft, which covers items worth $100,000 to $1 million.

The Merchandise Mart is in Adams County just north of the border with Denver.

Muhaisen appeared in court Thursday to be formally advised of the charge. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 7.
