Former Jeffco Deputy Pleads Guilty To Vehicular Assault

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - A former sheriff's deputy has pleaded guilty to vehicular assault and official misconduct.

John Anthony Mayns, Jr., 32, of Arvada, was arrested in June for DUI and causing a crash that seriously injured a Littleton man.

Mayns was an off-duty Jefferson County sheriff's deputy at the time. He didn't immediately stop at the scene of the accident.

When Mayns was caught he told police someone else was driving his truck when the accident happened.

Mayns is no longer employed by the sheriff's office.
