Former Denver City Employee Pleads Guilty For Improprieties Involving DIA
DENVER (CBS4) - A former Denver city employee accused of accepting money in exchange for his influence as a public servant has pleaded guilty.
According to Lynn Kimbrough with the district attorney's office, Larry Lee Stevenson, 46, pleaded guilty on Monday to two counts of failure to disclose a conflict of interest.
"Stevenson, an employee of Denver's Excise and Licensing Department, took several thousand dollars from a local businessman who wanted Stevenson's help to secure contracts or subcontracts at Denver International Airport without going through a formal bidding process," Kimbrough said in a statement.
Stevenson allegedly accepted a total of $5,500.
"He was not successful in his efforts to influence the contract process," Kimbrough said.
Stevenson was sentenced to one year unsupervised probation and ordered to pay $5,500 in restitution. He also must surrender his concealed-carry permit as a condition of his bond.
The FBI helped the district attorney's office with their investigation.
