Former Commerce City Police Officer Pleads Not Guilty To False Reporting Charges

BRIGHTON, Colo. (CBS4)- The former Commerce City police officer accused of shooting himself has pleaded not guilty to false reporting charges. The trial for Kevin Lord is scheduled to begin July 18.

Lord resigned from the force Nov. 18, 2015 after his arrest earlier that month on false reporting charges.

After Lord said he was shot Nov. 8 by a suspect he had stopped, who then got away, police launched a manhunt that lasted several days. Police even released a sketch of the alleged suspect.

The district attorney's office says attempting to influence a public official is a Class 4 felony which could carry jail time.

Lord remains free on a $5,000 bond.
