Former Boulder Officer Accused Of Tipping Off Suspect Pleads Not Guilty

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - A former Boulder detective accused of ruining a sting operation has pleaded not guilty to charges of being an accessory to a crime, official misconduct and obstructing a peace officer.

Investigators say Jack Gardner, 56, sent an email to a child-luring suspect warning him not to meet a 13-year-old girl, who was really a Boulder police officer.

He's scheduled to go to trial in September.

Gardner's attorney argues he was in an impaired mental state.
