In addition to causing heavy damage to the home, the fire spread to a van parked outside. The heat from the fire melted the siding of a neighbor's home.

One neighbor says he tried to help despite the huge flames.

"I just heard a big bang outside, I thought it somebody slamming their car door in front of the house. I opened the door and just saw flames shooting out from the van out there in the driveway across the street. I got scared and ran outside to see if there was anybody in the house or what was going on, just in time for the gentleman who was in the house came running out in shorts. He was the only one in there," said neighbor John Smith.
