Flags Flying High Over School Parking Lot After Ban Reversed

FRUITA, Colo. (CBS4)- Flags are flying high over a school parking lot after Fruita Monument High School leaders reversed a controversial flag ban.

The ban was put in place that kept students from waving flags in the school parking lot. The ban included the American flag.

Some claimed the flag waving was distracting. Seniors were told they could be expelled or banned from walking during the graduation ceremony if they didn't follow the rules.

Since the ban was reversed, students returned to the parking lot with flags.

"No disciplinary action has been taken. Nobody has been kicked out of school and kids will graduate," said Fruita Monument High School Principal Todd McClaskey.

The school has told students they can display flags as long as it is in a respectful manner.
