Fishing Limits Lifted On Reservoir Before Water Is Drained

DELTA, Colo. (AP) — Anglers with a Colorado fishing license can take all the fish they want from a western Colorado reservoir before the water is drained for repair work.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife said Tuesday it will lift fishing limits on Big Eggleston Lake on Grand Mesa starting Saturday. Only legal fishing methods may be used.

The agency says the fish will die as the water level drops, so anglers are encouraged to harvest them first.

Big Eggleston Lake is about 23 miles northeast of Delta.

The Grand Mesa Water Users Association is draining the lake to repair an outlet structure on the dam. The work is expected be completed in the fall.
