Firefighter Hurt Battling House Fire In Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4)- A firefighter was injured while battling a fire that engulfed a home in Lakewood on Thursday afternoon.

The fire burned a home on South Zinna Court near Jewell and Alameda. Two people and two pets escaped the flames.

One firefighter from West Metro Fire Rescue suffered minor injuries. That firefighter is expected to return to duty on Friday.

"I was sitting in my living room, I heard the sirens and I came out. The deck over there was engulfed in flames," said neighbor John Barwick.

The home was badly damaged by the fire and a neighboring home has exterior damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
