Fire Heavily Damages Lakewood Home, 2 Taken To Hospital

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - Two people were taken to the hospital when a fire broke out early Wednesday morning in Lakewood. One of those people had to be rescued.

The fire started at a home located at 12164 West Exposition Drive, just east of West Alameda Parkway.

Emergency crews said the damage was extensive.

"The home has fire damage located near where the incinerator is in the fireplace. But there is extensive smoke damage throughout the home, and obviously water damage from the fire," said West Metro Fire Department spokeswoman Michelle French. "There are large holes that have been cut into the roof when we were doing our ventilation process trying to reach the scene of the fire."
