Fire Destroys Home Near Golden Gate Canyon State Park
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - A fire destroyed a family's Jefferson County home on Monday.
The fire started in a remote area near Golden Gate Canyon State Park. Firefighters say high wind caused flames to spread quickly.
Firefighters had to set up a roadblock so crews could get to the home more easily.
At one point the wind pushed flames to nearby grass.
"At that time there was a concern that it would spread to the grasses and the trees in the area and cause a much larger wildfire," Scott Pribble with Arvada fire said.
Nobody was home when the fire started. Crews are now investigating a cause.
