Fire Heavily Damages Apartment Complex In Estes Park

ESTES PARK, Colo. (CBS4) - A fire broke out at an apartment complex in Estes Park early Friday morning and left some families without a place to live.

The fire scene is located slightly north of downtown on the 500 block of Chapin Lane, and two units appear to be destroyed.

There are no reports of any injuries from the fire, but 20 people including six children had to evacuate from their residences.

So far it's not clear what caused the fire.

Fire crews from Loveland and Allenspark assisted firefighters in Estes Park with the battle, which started at 4:30 a.m. and was still smoking at 11 a.m.

Officials with the American Red Cross were assisting those who were evacuated from their homes.
