Arrest Made In Fire That Injured 11 At Apartment Building

DENVER (CBS4) - An arrest has been made in connection with a fire at an apartment building that sent 11 people to the hospital Sunday night.

Officials with the Denver Fire Department say the fire at Federal View Apartments is criminal in nature.

Some people had to jump from windows to escape the flames. A baby was also thrown from a window to safety.

At least two people who were hurt were in critical condition afterwards.

According to a fire department spokesperson, the fire has been labeled an arson and the authorities believe the person arrested is responsible for starting the fire.

The suspect's name hasn't been released and it's not clear if there are other suspects.

Residents returned to the building at Federal Boulevard near West 26th Avenue on Monday trying to salvage belongings.

Investigators have not said why they suspect the fire is a possible crime.
