Federal Railroad Officials Tour Fort Collins For Train Horn Regulations

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4)- Federal railroad officials toured Fort Collins to look at the impact of current train horn regulations.

Federal Railraod Administrator Sarah Feinberg took a tour with Sen. Cory Gardner on Friday.

Residents in that area have complained for years about blaring train horns.

The current rules require trains to sound their horns at least 15 seconds in advance of all public crossings.

The administration said it will rewrite those rules.

"We want communities to grow and have a great quality of life but also be able to keep the residents and any visitors safe," said Feinberg.

The administration is taking input from the public on how to reduce train noise in communities across Colorado.
