February 2015 Breaks 100-Year-Old Denver Snow Record

DENVER (CBS4) - February 2015 officially broke the record as Denver's snowiest February in history on Thursday evening.

The most snow ever recorded in Denver for the month of February was 22.1 inches, back in 1912. That stood for over 100 years, until Thursday.

The new record for the snowiest February in Denver is 22.2 inches. Thursday's 2.9 inches of snow pushed the month's total over the 1912 record.

Even more snow -- while not expected to be heavy --is expected over the weekend as well, which will increase the total before February ends and March -- traditionally Colorado's snowiest month -- begins on Sunday.

February 2015 is also the city of Boulder's snowiest February on record.
