FBI Joins Deadly Shooting Of Cyclist Investigation

WINDSOR, Colo. (CBS4) - The FBI is assisting the Windsor Police Department with the investigation of a bicycle rider who was shot and killed on the side of a rural road in Windsor.

The FBI said they are helping out at the request of the Windsor Police. Windsor is a smaller police department and asked for extra resources. Police have not released a suspect description and have not made any arrests.

Jacoby, 48, had been employed with the city of Windsor since 2012. Police say he was riding his bike along the rural road at approximately 10 a.m. on Monday when something happened.

He was shot twice and was found dead in a ditch next to the roadway.

Jacoby's friends are concerned that he may have been targeted because he was riding a bicycle.

It happened near the intersection of Weld County Road 72 and Weld County Road 15. Initially police thought it was a hit-and-run case.

The crime was the first homicide in the town in eight years.

The Weld County Coroner has completed the autopsy but hasn't said what that revealed.
