Father, Mother Of Former NFL QB Flutie Die On Same Day

(CBS4) - Doug Flutie announced Wednesday afternoon that his parents both died less than an hour apart.

The former NFL quarterback, who last played a game in Denver in 2005, said in a post on Facebook that his father's death wasn't a total shock. He died Wednesday morning in a hospital of a heart attack and had been sick.

His mother's death was sudden. "My Mom, less than an hour later had a sudden heart attack and passed away," Flutie wrote.

Flutie said he has a heavy heart over his parents' deaths.

"They say you can die of a broken heart and I believe it," Flutie said.
